Prof. Alexander Hübner and Prof. Clemens Thielen are conducting research on resource management and optimization processes at the TUM Campus Straubing. The topic has taken on decisive significance for the healthcare sector in the course of the pandemic. In an interview the two researchers share some insights on their Covid-19 lecture “Personnel Deployment and Bed Planning in the Hospital”, to be held on June 9.
Prof. Dr. Alexander Hübner and Jonas Hense represented the Chair of Supply and Value Chain Management during this year’s POMS (Production and Operations Management Society) annual conference. In the retail operations track, Jonas Hense presented his mutual research with Prof. Dr. Hübner on omni-channel assortment planning. In the same track, Jonas also hosted a session on omni-channel marketing and operations.
The winner of the 2021 edition of the Global Student Challenge in supply chain management is a student team from the Technical University of Munich. Magdalena Huber, Polina Ivanova, Enrico Kaschak, and Emilia Wengorz as the team “Bavarian Saftladen” competed against 47 other student teams from 33 different universities and 17 countries worldwide. After an intense and very close final from May 2-8, they took a phenomenal first place and can now call themselves world champions of the Global Student Challenge 2021.
The second digital meeting of the EWG Retail Ops took place on March 26th, 2021, and attracted 57 participants, from U.S., Asia and Europe, and was organized by Sandra Transchel (Kuehne Logistics University) and Alexander Huebner (Technical University Munich).
Our latest research work on last-mile delivery with trucks and robots was accepted for publication in Networks. It proposes a routing algorithm and shows the concept’s potential to reduce logistics costs and emissions by more than 50% compared to current delivery trucks.
This year’s Quantitative BWL (QBWL) workshop was hosted on 8 March 2021 by the Chair of Supply and Value Chain Management at TUM Campus Straubing. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the workshop was hosted in a virtual format.
