Bachelor and Master Theses

In this section, you will find potential topics for a bachelor's and master's thesis based on the research topics we are working on at the Chair for Supply and Value Chain Management. Current research topics at our chair are:

  • Vehicle Routing: planning efficient routes for multiple vehicles adhering to certain restrictions by mathematical modeling and applying efficient algorithms
  • Retail Operations (Food Waste Reduction, Assortment / Inventory Management): analyzing data (industry partners) to reveal drivers for food waste, applying simulation and optimization techniques to derive efficient ordering policies
  • Health Care Operations: optimizing the operations in hospitals by mathematical modeling and the application of efficient algorithms
  • Behavioral Aspects in Human-Machine Interactions: analyzing and integrating human factors in the automation of warehouses, conducting field studies
  • Supply Chain Resilience: optimizing supply chains to cope with a changing environment

We encourage students to write their thesis in English. Research journals are majorly published in English, and companies today expect their employees to speak English fluently.

We prefer to accept students with a significant number of lectures in supply and value chain management and related fields, as well as former participants of our chair's advanced seminar. Nevertheless, we are always happy to receive excellent applications from students with other focus areas/ qualifications that relate to our field. The number of available topics for theses is limited by the capacity of the chair. If the number of applications exceeds the capacity of the chair, theses will be allocated according to your previous seminars, elective courses, and personal interests.
